How Phishing Threats Evade Detection
Darrin Barnett, Principal Systems Engineer
Darrin has over fifteen years of experience in cyber security and is a technology specialist for mail security, phishing defense, and anti-malware solutions. At PhishMe, he has seen countless real-world phishing threats targeting companies and the constant variation of tactics being employed. Through his current role, Darrin helps organizations improve their security posture through applying technologies to quickly identify and analyze phishing threats. Darrin holds a CISSP certification and earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine.
Despite great defensive technologies, 90% of breaches start with a phishing email. Quite often we blame the end user and think somehow if we provide enough training, we can teach those uneducated users to spot an obvious phishing attack! During this presentation we’ll go through real phishing examples and why they evade traditional defenses. We’ll also touch on how you can leverage your employees as assets to protect your organization.
