Cryptography in the Quantum Age. Is Encryption Dead?
Guido Solares, PhD, Principal Security Architect
Guido is the Principal Security Architect at DynTek, a national systems integrator, risk management partner, and expert technology consultancy firm in Irvine, CA. He is an experienced information security strategist, with proficiency across the full spectrum of security risk management, compliance, operations, technology, and architecture.
Earlier in his career, besides being an accomplished entrepreneur, he attained prestigious academic achievements and authored several papers in scientific journals. Guido is a Fulbright scholar and holds three advanced degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), including a Doctorate in Physics. He was a faculty member at both MIT and Harvard University.
Quantum computing is a new reality, and very likely our current public-key cryptography soon won’t work anymore! Would we still be able to protect our critical data? We will review some of the basics to understand the issues and explore plausible solutions such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography algorithms.
